The annual UAAC June 16 celebrations will take place at various venues in Gauteng and Limpopo Provinces as the young Lions commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the 1976 Soweto uprising.
Whilst many people still doubt the relationship between the 1976 uprising and Christianity, it has always been clear that young Christians could draw on the experiences of the 1976 youth to chart a better way forward for themselves in an ever changing world. It has always been demonstrated over the years that resilience displayed by the 1976 youth is required for young people to succeed in the contemporary world.
As such, the youth in Gauteng are poised to celebrate this special Day at Diepsloot. All Gauteng Districts / branches will convene there for a treat of dramas, poetry, traditional dances, debates, Choir performances, etc. Gauteng Youth Chairperson, Evangelist David Mudau, will preside over the proceedings. Gauteng leadership comprising of Bishop Muzila, Cllr Nemulalate and Women ‘s League Chairperson, Chief Inspector Ramalamula, will lead a legion of Councillors and other elders to support their children at the fun-filled day.
In Limpopo, various districts such as Dzanani 1, Dzanani 2, Niani 2, Thohoyandou and Thondo have also confirmed hosting the celebrations in their respective areas. The youth will enjoy seminars, choir performances, debates, etc.
All functions commence in the morning and run throughout the day on 15 and 17 June 2019 respectively.
The celebrations are once again poised to change the lives of UAAC youth as the 1976 profoundly changed the social, political and economic landscape of the country.
Peace be unto all!!
