INTERNAL MEMORANDUM

Ref: 1001/03/2020

19 March 2020

SUSPENSION OF CONFERENCES AND RELATED SERVICES

Peace unto all!!

In light of the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and subsequent national address by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 15 March 2020, the Office of Archbishop IJ Mureri informs all members of the United African Apostolic Church (UAAC) of the immediate suspension of all conferences until further notice. This includes District, Bishop, Provincial and National conferences.

We urge all our members to abide by the government‘s decision to limit the number of congregants to a maximum of 100 per gathering, even at branch and related functions. Let us familiarise ourselves with regulation no 43107, as gazetted, released by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, which stipulates steps necessary to prevent an escalation of the virus. Same should be unpacked for the elderly and young children.

The church is implored to limit physical contact and to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 through frequent washing of hands and other recommended actions. The health and wellbeing of our church and society at large are our utmost priorities.

The church is committed to partnering with government in the dissemination of correct information and offering of any form of aid that will assist in curbing the spread of the virus.

The Secretary-General‘s office will keep you informed about new developments regarding this correspondence. In the meantime, let us continue to pray for our government and global health services to find a cure and/or vaccine for the disease to finally curb or eliminate the virus altogether.

For further details, please feel free to contact the UAAC’s Spokesperson, Reverend Mbulaheni Nenzhelele, on 082 222 5828 or send an email to info@uaac.co.za.
